Local Services Ads management for roofers

By Aaryan Gupta, founder Updated October 19, 2026

Zentora Digital Marketing, a roofing marketing agency in Dallas, sets up and manages Google Local Services Ads for roofing companies as part of its Growth plan at $1,500 a month, month to month. The ad budget is separate. Google bills it to your card and sets the minimum by market, around $1,400 a month in DFW, and it charges per lead. The ad account stays in your company's name.

Local Services Ads put your company above the regular results with the Google Verified badge, and the homeowner calls you straight from your own ad. We get you through Google's checks, then manage the ads and go through the leads every month.

What runs every month

$1,500 a month

Plus your ad budget, billed by Google to you directly. Around $1,400 a month in DFW.

  • Setup in your company's name The ad account and billing in your business's legal name, job types matched to the work you do, and the service area set to the ZIP codes you work. Categories you don't do come off your Google profile first, because Local Services Ads pulls them from there.
  • Google's verification For roofers Google checks liability insurance and any license your state requires, and runs background checks for some users. We prepare what it asks for and follow it until the badge shows on your ad.
  • Budget and bidding Google recommends its Maximize leads bidding and a budget for at least 10 leads a week. We set the weekly budget from the presets Google shows for your ZIP codes and change it as the leads come in.
  • Lead review Google logs every lead with the caller, the length, a recording and the charge. We go through them and rate the bad ones, which since Google ended manual disputes is the way left to ask for a credit.
  • Lead tracking and speed to lead Calls from your profile and website are tracked too, and a missed call gets a text back inside a minute.
  • The rest of Growth Your Google Business Profile kept active, basic SEO and website upkeep. Your Google reviews count toward the profile quality Google says it ranks these ads on.

Timeline

Your ad can run while Google finishes its checks

  1. Before launch

Categories you don't do come off your Google profile, the account and billing go in your company's name, and the job types and ZIP codes are set.

  2. Launch

On one Texas roofer's account in September 2026 there was no approval step before launch. Verification ran alongside the live ad and had 14 days to finish, with the identity check sent by email from Evident, Google's partner.

  3. Weeks 1 to 4

Google says full screening averages three to four weeks once your documents are in. Until then, pre-badge ads can take leads, placed below fully verified roofers.

  4. First two weeks of spend

Google says its bidding model needs about two weeks. One $20 million roofing owner says calls took a year or two to come steadily, and puts that down to spend and account age.

  5. Every month

We go through the leads, rate the bad ones, adjust job types, ZIP codes and budget, and report each lead with what Google charged.

  6. Late 2026

Google is moving Local Services Ads into Google Ads as Performance Max campaigns with pay-per-lead goals, and roofers without a storefront follow in late 2026. Verified status, lead history and call recordings carry over, and old performance reports don't.

What Google charges for

Google has charged for missed calls since October 1, 2026

Google charges for a lead when you speak with the homeowner, when they leave a voicemail or send a text, email or booking request, and, since October 1, 2026, when you miss a call during your business hours and the caller stays on the line past 20 seconds, whether or not you call back. Voicemail or a recorded greeting counts as connected.

Business hours are the ones on your Google Business Profile, and the missed call also has to fall inside your ad schedule. Google doesn't charge twice for the same number within 15 days, so calling back costs nothing more, and a missed call nobody returns is a lead you paid for and lost. That is why speed to lead comes with Growth.

Budget

Google's 10-leads-a-week advice came to about $4,700 a month in DFW

For one DFW roofer's ZIP codes in September 2026, Google's budget screen offered weekly presets of $327, $1,090 and $1,635. Google recommends a budget for at least 10 leads a week, which at its projected $109 a lead came to the middle preset, a little over $4,700 a month.

The budget is a weekly average. Google can spend more in some weeks, never more than the monthly maximum, and once that is spent the ad stops until the next month unless the budget goes up. A change made mid-month resets what's left to spend.

Ranking

Google ranks these ads on your bid and how likely you are to produce a lead

Google judges that from how responsive you are, since missed calls can hurt, how relevant you are to the search, and your profile's quality: rating, review count, response time, photos and completed verification. Higher-quality profiles may rank higher and pay less per lead, Google says, and it never names distance from the homeowner as a factor.

In an August 2026 search of the Local Services Ads listings for "roofer plano tx", 20 roofers advertised, with review counts as high as 1,800. The reviews on your Google profile show on these ads too.

A real DFW setup

Google set a $327 weekly floor for one DFW roofer and projected three leads a week

Google publishes no minimum budget for Local Services Ads. When we reached the budget screen for a DFW roofing client in September 2026, it warned that anything under $327 a week would likely bring no leads. At that floor the monthly maximum came to $1,421, and Google projected about $109 a lead.

No lead had been billed by early October, so the $109 is Google's estimate, and the floor held for one client's ZIP codes. Yours may sit higher or lower, and your own signup flow shows Google's figure for your area before you spend anything.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How much does Local Services Ads management cost?

With Zentora it is part of the Growth plan at $1,500 a month, month to month, plus the ad budget Google bills to your card. In DFW the minimum budget runs around $1,400 a month.

What is the minimum ad budget for Local Services Ads?

Google sets it by market and does not publish it. For one DFW roofing client in September 2026 the floor was $327 a week, around $1,400 a month. Your ZIP codes may sit higher or lower.

Do you mark up my ad spend?

No. Google bills your card directly. We never mark up or hold your budget, and the ad account stays in your company's name.

What happens with a bad lead?

Google ended manual disputes in July 2024. It now credits leads it judges invalid or low quality on its own, in most cases within 30 days, and its "Rate this lead" survey can occasionally earn a credit, so we rate every bad call. Choosing the right job types and ZIP codes at setup is the main protection.

How long does verification take?

Google says screening averages three to four weeks once the documents are in, and pre-badge ads can take leads in the meantime. On one Texas roofer's account in September 2026, the ad ran while verification finished within 14 days.

Is it still called Google Guaranteed?

Google has replaced Google Guaranteed, Google Screened and License Verified with a single Google Verified badge, though owners still use the old name. Google also ended its Money Back Guarantee, so homeowners can claim only for jobs booked before December 7, 2025, and it says the badge change doesn't affect ranking.

Are Local Services Ads leads exclusive?

Google never says a phone lead goes to you alone. Message leads can be shared, and Google labels a lead when the homeowner messaged several providers at once. Only leads that are yours alone count toward the Scale guarantee.

Do Local Services Ads need a call-tracking number?

No. Google records every call in its own dashboard with the caller, the length, a recording and the charge. Call tracking on Growth covers your profile and website instead.
