Roofing Business Coaches and Consultants: What They Charge and Who They Help

By Aaryan Gupta October 4, 2026

Starfish Coaching, which markets a business coach to roofing companies, lists $350 an hour for a single session, and The Roofing Academy keeps the prices of its programs off its offer page. Small Business Development Centers give one-on-one business consulting at no cost, and SCORE mentoring is free for the life of the business. Start with the free advisers, and pay a coach once you can name the number you want moved.

Roofing coaching is sold as group courses, monthly coaching or session blocks

The Roofing Academy’s entry tier, BUILD, is a course library with weekly group coaching calls, a private community and a template vault, aimed at solo entrepreneurs.

Its GROW tier adds one-on-one coaching at two calls a month, a monthly mastermind call, and financial and CRM coaching.

The SCALE tier adds 90-minute private calls twice a month with a lead coach and a one-day visit to your company, with an upgrade to a longer visit.

GROW and SCALE each carry a 6-month commitment with a 30-day money-back guarantee, and the offer page lists no price for any of the three tiers.

Starfish Coaching sells time instead. A single session is $350 an hour with no commitment, and a block of 10 private sessions is $3,000.

When a program keeps its price off the page, ask on the sales call for the monthly cost and the total over the whole commitment, and write both down before you hang up.

Price guides quote $1,000 to $5,000 a month for one-on-one coaching

General business-coaching price guides quote $1,000 to $5,000 a month for one-on-one coaching, and they cover coaches for every kind of business.

Those packages usually include two to four sessions a month plus support between them. Divide any monthly quote you get by the sessions it includes, and hold that per-session price against an hourly rate like Starfish’s.

Sellers pitch group courses to solo owners and private coaching to companies with staff

The Roofing Academy aims its course tier at solo entrepreneurs and keeps the one-on-one calls and the site visit for its higher tiers. Starfish aims its 10-session block at companies with three or more staff. If you run the company alone, the sellers themselves point you to group material first.

The private tiers sell coaching on finances and the CRM. If you can’t say how many of last quarter’s Google inspections turned into signed jobs, that is a concrete first project to hand a coach, and Roofing Close Rates by Lead Source: What Is Normal shows what to measure.

I haven’t found public numbers on what roofers earn after hiring a coach, so the proof has to come from your own books. Write down the one number you want moved, such as close rate or net margin per job, and where it stands today. Then ask the coach how you will both know it moved before the refund window closes.

SCORE and the SBDCs give business advice for free

SCORE says it offers free mentoring for the life of a business through more than 10,000 volunteer mentors. Those mentors are generalists, so ask your local chapter whether any of them has run a roofing company.

America’s SBDC says nearly 1,000 local Small Business Development Centers offer no-cost consulting and low-cost training. Universities, colleges, state economic development agencies and private partners host them, and Congress funds them in part through a partnership with the SBA. The SBA says the advising covers business planning, access to capital, financial management and marketing.

Take your books and your financing questions to one of them before any paid sales call. Save trade questions, like supplements and sub crews, for someone who has run a roofing company.

The FTC sued a seller of business coaching over earnings claims

In August 2025 the FTC sued Air AI, a company that did not focus on roofers, alleging deceptive claims about business growth, earnings and refund guarantees sold with business coaching. The FTC says some small businesses lost up to $250,000.

Before a sales call, read the FTC’s consumer alert Vetting a business or coaching opportunity before you buy in from August 2023.

Get the refund terms in writing before you pay. If a seller promises a revenue number, ask for that number in the contract, along with the refund you get if it is missed.

Ask these questions before you sign a six-month commitment

  • What does it cost each month, and what is the total over the whole commitment?
  • Can I buy one session first? Starfish sells single sessions, so the request is a normal one.
  • Who runs my one-on-one calls, and how many a month are private?
  • How long is the refund window, and what do I get back inside it?
  • Has my coach run a roofing company, and at what size?
  • Will you put any revenue promise in the contract?
